Champagne afternoon tea at BB Bakery

Oh Champagne afternoon tea, let me count the ways I love thee…

BB Bakery, in Covent Garden is arguably one of the cutest spots in town. Utterly girly, it’s a confectionery-lover’s candy-coated dream.

On Sunday Mills & Boon hosted a Champagne tea there – and it’s hard to imagine a sweeter spot for it.

A confectionery-lover’s candy-coated dream!

I sipped a chilled glass of Champagne Rose La Romantique (I’m not sure how I’ve managed to never have this pink fizz before, but I’m glad the situation has been rectified!) and listened to authors Judy Astley and Adele Parks give exclusive readings from their respective short stories in Truly, Madly, Deeply – a new anthology of romantic stories.

Vintage-chic cake-stands were laden with treats and sandwiches (the goat cheese & spinach quiche was divine), and china teapots sat brewing on pretty table-tops while I caught up with one of my dearest friends.

For a girly afternoon there can be few places finer…

PS We were enjoying ourselves so much we ordered another bottle of pink fizz! The Merlot Spumante Brut Rose David was £20 a bottle and utterly lush (pale pink with a flavour of ripe wild berries…)

Afternoon Tea available all day at £26.00 or £33.00 with Champagne: www.bbbakery.co.uk
